South Ossetia to have second round of presidential election on April 8

The South Ossetian Central Elections Commission has signed the final report of the first round of the presidential election held on March 25

TSKHINVALI, March 27 (Itar-Tass) —— The South Ossetian Central Elections Commission has signed the final report of the first round of the presidential election held on March 25, the Commission told Itar-Tass.

“The report says there will be two candidates in the second round of the South Ossetian presidential election – Leonid Tibilov, who gained 42.48% of votes in the first round (11,453) and David Sanakoyev who gained 24.58% of votes (6,627),” the Commission said.

The Commission scheduled the second round of the presidential election for April 8. The candidates may start canvassing on Wednesday.

The second round will be valid if more than 30% of eligible voters take part in it. The winner needs a simple majority of votes.
