MOSCOW, March 25 (Itar-Tass) — The Moscow State University named after Lomonosov will hold a day of open doors for prospective students on Sunday.
The University rector Viktor Sadovnichiy will meet the school leavers in the main building on Lenin Hills at midday. The University’s press service reports that the future students will have a chance to see the Moscow University, pose questions to its leadership and faculty deans and learn the conditions of entry into the country’s leading educational establishment in 2012. They will also have an insight into the atmosphere of an institution of high learning in order to be able to choose a future profession.
The Moscow State University named after Lomonosov is the oldest Russian University. It was founded by Mikhail Lomonosov and Count Ivan Shuvalov in 1755.
Originally, it had only three faculties: legal, philosophical and medical. Today, the University has 40 faculties and 15 research institutes. There are more than 40,000 students, of which almost 4,000 are foreigners.
