SOssetia closes border with Georgia for Election Day

TSKHINVAL, March 24 (Itar-Tass) — South Ossetia closes the border with Georgia from this Saturday for the time of presidential elections, scheduled for March 25, reporters found out at republican law enforcement bodies.

According to authorities, all power-wielding structures of South Ossetia were put on alert from March 23 up to a special order.

“In line with taken measures, the passage of citizens through points of simplified crossing of the state border with the Georgian Republic in the villages of Mosabrun, Artsev, Sinagur and Karzman will be stopped this Saturday at 20.00. The passage of citizens via the above points will be resumed after the closure of polling stations on March 25 at 20.00,” law enforcement bodies noted.

All measures are carried out in connection with ensuring security during the presidential elections in the republic. More than 1,000 law enforcers are involved in protection of law and order over this time.
