Medvedev to touch upon missile defense at Euroatlantic security conference

“It will be a wider statement, addressing not only missile defense issues,” Ryabkov added

MOSCOW, March 23 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s speech at the conference of the Russian Council on International Affairs will concern the United States’ missile defense, but nothing will be said about a further tightening of the Russian position, Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Itar-Tass on Friday.

When asked about the rumors to the effect Medvedev in his statement would raise the theme of the European missile defense, Ryabkov replied in the affirmative. At the same time he pointed out that no tightening of the Russian stance was on the agenda.

“It will be a wider statement, addressing not only missile defense issues,” Ryabkov added.
