MOSCOW, March 23 (Itar-Tass) —— Some 60 kilograms of Afghan heroin have been seized recently in two large-scale anti-drug operations in St. Petersburg and Irkutsk, Russia’s anti-drug chief Viktor Ivanov reported on Friday.
According to Ivanov, one of these operations was staged jointly with Kyrgyzstan’s drug police.
“Two days ago, an operation was held jointly with Kyrgyzstan’s colleagues in Irkutsk. A batch of 14 kilograms of concentrated Afghan heroin was seized,” he said and added that the amount was equal to 1.5 milliom doses.
Last weekend, a wholesale batch of 43 kilograms of Afghan heroin was seized in Russia’s second largest city of St. Petersburg.
