Medvedev accepts resignation of Saratov region governor

MOSCOW, March 23 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has accepted early resignation of Saratov region governor Pavel Ipatov, the Kremlin press service reported on Friday.

The president signed a decree relieving Ipatov of his duties “on his own volition.”

By the same decree, the president appointed Valery Radayev acting governor of Saratov region.

Valery Radayev was born on April 2, 1961 in the village of Blagodatnoye, Saratov region. In 1994, he graduated from the Saratov Institute of Agricultural Mechanization. He holds an academic title of Candidate of Sciences in sociology. He began his working career in 1980 at the Blagodatinsky state farm, ultimately becoming its director in 1996. In December 1996, he became head of administration of the Khvalynsky district, Saratov region. In 2005-2007, Radayev worked as head of the Saratov region administration of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control. In 2002, he joined the United Russia party and has been secretary of its regional branch since March 2010. In December 2007, he was elected to the Saratov Regional Duma (legislature) and now is its speaker and chairman of the budget and taxes committee. He has the Order for Merits to the Fatherland.
