Motorcycle with 3 fishermen falls through ice in Rostov Reg

Rescuers sought to raise the enthusiasts' awareness of the risks of ice fishing, and checked the availability of safety means

ROSTOV-ON-DON, March 22 (Itar-Tass) — The motorcycle riding of three reckless fishermen on the ice of a man-made lake in the Rostov Region ended in a tragedy on Thursday.

According to the reports of the regional center of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies, "A motorcycle with three fishermen fell through the ice in Veselovskoye water reservoir. Two of them managed to get out from under the ice quickly on their own while the third one went under the water surface. Rescuers have already spotted the body of the drowned man".

On Wednesday, safety inspectors and rescuers spot-checked the lake only to witness a mass-scale ice fishing. Rescuers sought to raise the enthusiasts' awareness of the risks of ice fishing, and checked the availability of safety means.

Within the past winter period, in the water areas of the Southern Federal District, there were several cases of lethal falls through the ice. Seven people, with four children among them, died in Astrakhan and Rostov Regions and Krasnodar Territory resultant of falling through the ice.
