Train traffic at TransSib derailment site fully restored

The preliminary cause of the incident is a warped side frame of a bogie that was made at the Azovelektrostal plant in 2010

VLADIVOSTOK, March 22 (Itar-Tass) — Train traffic at the Guberovo – Sibirtsevo section of the Trans-Siberian Railway (TransSib) where there was a derailment of wagons in the Primorsky Territory on Wednesday, was fully restored on Thursday. The press service of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry’s (EMERCOM) main department for the region told Itar-Tass on Thursday that the track clearing operations and restoration of the damaged section of the electrical contact under a temporary scheme have been completed. Currently the trains are running there without delay.

On Thursday afternoon, it is planned to complete the restoration of damaged poles, crossbars of the overhead contact system and permanent power supply.

The incident occurred at 06:27, local time on March 21 (23:27 MSK on March 20). There was a derailment of seven tank cars with diesel fuel owned by the LEP-Leasing commercial company. There no overturning of tank cars and the petroleum products’ spill. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

The Transport Prosecutor’s Office of the Primorsky Territory is conducting a probe into the incident. In addition, The Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office is analysing the situation related to the growing incidence of transport incidents due to fractures of bogie side frames.
