KRASNODAR, March 21 (Itar-Tass) —— The Kuban Legislative Assembly approved Alexander Tkachev as governor in the Krasnodar Territory at its 59th session on Wednesday. Some 57 out of 61 deputies voted for him. The regional parliament is made up of 69 deputies: 60 of them are members of the United Russia faction, six – the CPRF faction and three – the A Just Russia faction. The candidate should gain a simple majority of 35 votes to be approved as governor.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev nominated Alexander Tkachev for governor of the Krasnodar Territory on March 11. The United Russia leadership supported this candidacy.
