MOSCOW, March 21 (Itar-Tass) — Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal will hold talks on prospects for inter-Palestinian unity shortly, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Fayed Mustafa said.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Mustafa said, “The problem of inter-Palestinian reconciliation remains in force. Unfortunately, the latest talks did not yield any result.”

At the same time, the Palestinian ambassador said the key task was that all parties sought to continue efforts in this aspect. “The Fatah and Hamas movements will hold consultations soon to discuss preparations for the upcoming talks between Mahmoud Abbas and Khaled Mashaal,” Mustafa said.

He said the date of the meeting had not been specified yet. “I hope that it will take place shortly,” the Palestinian ambassador in Moscow added.
