MOSCOW, March 20 (Itar-Tass) —— Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama will meet after the inauguration of the Russian President Elect, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the radio Kommersant FM on Tuesday.
He recalled the U.S. President’s telephone call to Putin. “They had a rather substantive discussion of main aspects of the bilateral relations and agreed to meet soon after the inauguration of the Russian President Elect,” the minister said.
“Republican candidates are rather actively using anti-Russian rhetoric. Yet we will judge the Russian policy of the U.S. president elected in November by deeds rather than by current rhetoric,” he said.
In his words, disagreements over missile defense and some other questions may influence the atmosphere of the bilateral relations. “However, both sides wish to deepen partnership in the areas where interests coincide and to discuss disagreements frankly in the direct dialog,” the minister said.
