Driver killed in train-truck collision on Khakassia rail crossing

The road accident damaged the pylon of the electric power line and the train traffic lights

KRASNOYARSK, March 20 (Itar-Tass) —— The driver was killed in the collision of his truck and a train on the railway crossing in Khakassia, the press service of the Krasnoyarsk Railway told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The road accident occurred at 12:20 local time (08:20 Moscow time) on Tuesday in the Ust-Abakan district at the 374th kilometre of the Tigey-Tasheba railway line. “Ignoring the beeps given by the locomotive engine driver, the driver of the truck passed through the banned signs on the railway crossing. The train engine driver used urgent braking, but the collision could not have been avoided over a short distance. The driver of the truck died instantaneously,” the press service added.

The road accident damaged the pylon of the electric power line and the train traffic lights. No delays occurred in the train traffic. The investigation into the criminal case continues.

From the beginning of the year this is already third road accident, for which the drivers are to blame on the Abakan line of the Krasnoyarsk Railway. All road accidents are caused by rude violations of the traffic rules.
