Lavrov calls for preventing arms smuggling to Syria

Mansour said both weapons supplies and their senders had been seized and court trials were in progress

MOSCOW, March 20 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called for taking measures to prevent weapons from being smuggled to Syria.

The Russian Foreign Minister recalled that the weapons smuggling routes to Syria were lying through Jordan, Iraq and Libya.

“Our common task today is to take measures to prevent that,” he said after a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour on Tuesday.

For his part the Lebanese Foreign Minister said that of late his country’s military achieved success in gaining full control of the border and stopped smuggling.

Mansour said both weapons supplies and their senders had been seized and court trials were in progress.
