Medvedev submits protocol changing EurAsEC Court statute to Duma

The protocol of July 5, 2010 was signed in Bishkek on October 10, 2011

MOSCOW, March 19 (Itar-Tass) —— President Dmitry Medvedev has submitted the protocol amending the statute on the Court of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) to the State Duma for ratification.

The protocol of July 5, 2010 was signed in Bishkek on October 10, 2011, the presidential press service said on Monday, March 19.

Amendments to the statute were necessitated by the treaty on the referral of disputes between business entities within the Customs Union to the EurAsEC Court and on the peculiarities of judicial proceedings in such cases. The treaty was signed on December 9, 2010 and allows business entities of third countries that are not members of the Customs Union to take their disputes to the EurAsEC Court.

Medvedev also signed an order appointing First Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Denisov his official representative at the State Duma and Federation Council hearings on the ratification of the amendments to the EurAsEC Court statute.
