VLADIVOSTOK, March 19 (Itar-Tass) — Two outbreaks of foot and mouth disease were registered in the Primorye Territory, Russia’s Far East.
The first outbreak was registered in the village of Usachevka on February 27, where infected cows were found in four farm households. Second outbreak was reported in the village of Pospelovka, 70 kilometers of Usachevka, in early March.
Quarantine was imposed in both villages. All infected farm animals were culled, while others are being vaccinated.
Earlier the outbreak of foot and mouth disease was registered in the Primorye Territory in autumn of 2005. A total of 1,715 cows in nine villages were slaughtered then.
