MOSCOW, March 19 (Itar-Tass) — More than 100 people who were detained on Sunday for an attempt to stage an unsanctioned rally near the Ostankino television centre in Moscow have been released by police, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry’s main department for Moscow reported on Monday.
“The offenders detained on Sunday were taken to different police stations where administrative offense protocols were drawn up against them. Some of them are obligated to appear before a magistrate, and preventive conversations were held with some of them. All of them were released on Sunday night,” the press service said.
The action against NTV television was organised after the TV channel showed on March 15 the “Anatomy of a Protest” film. Taking into account all the norms of objectivity, it cannot but be recognised as a propaganda material against the opposition. In particular, the film authors claim that the opposition allegedly paid people for the participation in opposition rallies. This caused outrage among some opposition members.
The action gathered a total of several hundred people.
