WASHINGTON, March 17 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukraine has no doubts about the quality of its cheeses and it is certain that the problem with its supplies to Russia will be resolved soon, Agrarian Policies and Food Minister, Nikolai Prisyazhnyuk told Itar-Tass on Friday. He is in Washington on a visit.

“We have no doubts about the quality,” he said. “We shall certainly address this issue.”

He recalled that an inspection of the Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor would arrive in Ukraine next week to examine the products of Ukrainian manufacturers, or at least to present its real conclusions.

Prisyazhnyuk does not rule out that faked products disguised as Ukrainian cheeses might have appeared on the shelves of Russian supermarkets.

Prisyazhnyuk said that Ukraine was selling its cheeses to 15 other countries and there had never been any problems.

“This is the first such complaint and our task is to settle it,” he said.

On March 19-21 Rospotrebnadzor officials are to examine the quality of products from the Ukrainian company Gadyachsyr, and on March 26-30, of the companies Prometei and the Piryatinsky cheese factory.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import and sale of products from seven Ukrainian cheese manufacturers. It explained the products contained vegetable oils and failed to match Russia’s technical requirements. The Ukrainian producers argue these claims are groundless.
