Manufacturer to upgrade SSJ 100 jets after Friday situation

MOSCOW, March 16 (Itar-Tass) —— The manufacturer will upgrade the entire Sukhoi Superjet 100 fleet for eliminating the defect, which resulted in the breakdown of a control rod of the front landing gear retraction door on Friday, the Unified Aircraft Corporation (UAC), whose component Sukhoi Civil Aircraft is, told Itar-Tass.

The corporation said that the landing gear leg retracted normally. It noted that the control rod breakdown had no effect on the security of passengers.

In all, Aeroflot – Russian Airline flies six SSJ 100 jetliners, and the Armenian airline Armavia flies one.

An Aeroflot SSJ 100 reported a landing gear problem and returned to the airport of departure, Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, on Friday, the police said.

“The plane departed for Astrakhan but the crew learned soon after the takeoff that a landing gear leg did not retract and decided to return to the airport of departure. Fuel was spent, and the jet made a successful landing,” the police said.

There were 65 passengers and four crewmembers aboard the plane. No one was hurt.
