Rosturizm publishes blacklist of Thai, Vietnam, Italian hotels

Rosturizm had already published a preliminary list of “faulty” hoteliers and tour companies abroad

MOSCOW, March 16 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Federal Tourism Agency (Rosturizm) has published a list of hotels and host companies that demanded surcharges and did not allow tourists of the Lanta Tur Voyage company that suspended activities, to leave. Companies from Thailand, Vietnam, Dominican Republic and Italy have been blacklisted, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported on its website on Friday.

Rosturizm informed that the list was formed according to information from travellers who embarked on holiday tours through Lanta Tur Voyage in the period from January 27 to February 13, 2012. The agency said that all of these firms violated the rights of tourists who fully paid for their holidays and had contractual relationship only with Lanta, and not with the hoteliers and local operators.

The full list includes 14 companies. Among them are: Adria (Hotel, Prague, Czech Republic), Bamboo Village (Hotel, Phan Thiet, Vietnam), Caper (the host company, Goa, India), Central Place (Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand), Gulf Siam (Hotel, Pattaya Thailand), Don Hill Beach Resort (Hotel, Goa, India), Gartour (host company, Italy), Hai Au (Hotel, Phan Thiet, Vietnam), Hard Rock Hotel (Hotel, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic), Neelams the Grand, Nitya Resort (Hotels, Goa, India), Lamai Appartment (Hotel, Phuket, Thailand), Ocean Maya Royale (Hotel, Playa del Carmen, Mexico), Ramada (Hotel, Phuket, Thailand).

It was earlier reported that the tour operators - members of the TBG network declared a boycott to all foreign companies that violated the rights of tourists. “The way the host partners of Lanta Tur Voyage and the hotels behaved is a disgrace. If people have already arrived and they were not denied accommodation, they do not have to pay twice. The relations between hotels and tour operators are based on contracts. We boycotted those hotels that violated the rights of Lanta Tur’s tourists, that demanded extra payment for tours and arrested their documents. Next year, we will not conclude contracts with these companies,” General Director of PAC GROUP Ilya Itkin said.

No further statements were made after that by the suppliers of TBG (Russian network of tour operators), therefore it is difficult to check how they fulfil their promise. For example, it is still possible to find the Prague Hotel Adria on the website of DSBW company, and Southern Cross still offers the Bamboo Village Hotel.

Rosturizm had already published a preliminary list of “faulty” hoteliers and tour companies abroad. Then it included a total of eight companies.
