VLADIVOSTOK, March 16 (Itar-Tass) — Specialists building a bridge to the Russky Island in Vladivostok have finished the construction of a giant bridge tower on the Nazimov Peninsula.

Almost three years of work and 20,700 cubic meters of high quality concrete were needed for the construction of a bridge pillar. The bridge is among facilities on the program of the development of Vladivostok as a centre of international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region, and it must be built by an APEC summit that will be held on the Russky Island in September.

The bridge to the Russky Island is built across the Eastern Bosphorus Strait to serve the summit. It will connect the mainland part of the city (Nazimov Peninsula) with the Russky Island where the main activities of the summit will take place.

The bridge will be 3.1 kilometers long. Plans are to commission the bridge on July 1.
