Medvedev calls for more active cooperation with ecology organisations

“We have rather many ecology tense enterprises,” he said

SAMARA, March 15 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev called regional authorities to cooperate actively with ecology organisations.

“I would like to ask you to pay attention to necessary cooperation with non-governmental organisations, involved in ecology problems,” he said on Thursday during a meeting with Governor of the Samara region Vladimir Artyakov. The president said that quite often it is rather complicated to deal with ecologists, as sometimes their demands are too high, “but this is necessary to do, this is our joint task.”

Artyakov said that the region is working actively in ecology issues.

“We have rather many ecology tense enterprises,” he said. “Thus, it is necessary to be working with them permanently, and we are doing so.”

Artyakov said the ecology situation in the Samara region is one of the best in the Volga Federal District. It includes permanent monitoring, financing of special programmes, work with residents, which starts from schools.

Besides, the governor said, companies working in the Samara region, for example, Rosneft, spend much money for modernisation of their production facilities, which lowers the ecology tension.
