Yanukovich signs into law easier border crossing formalities for people in border regions

The agreement facilitates border crossing formalities for people living in border regions

KIEV, March 13 (Itar-Tass) —— President Viktor Yanukovich has signed the instrument of ratification of the Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on border crossing formalities for residents of border regions, the presidential press service said on Tuesday.

The agreement facilitates border crossing formalities for people living in border regions. From now on, they may cross the border by foot, by car or by bus and stay on the territory of the other country for up to 90 days without registration and migration cards. The Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement on February 22.

State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin said in his recent visit to Kiev that Russia did not have to ratify the agreement because the national laws already had such provisions.
