UNITED NATIONS ORGANISATION, March 12 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has warned against misleading the international community and manipulating the U.N. Security Council decisions.

“Whatever the goals are set, they cannot be achieved by misleading the international community and manipulating the U.N. Security Council decisions,” Lavrov said at a U.N. Security Council session on Monday.

The session is devoted to the events in the Middle East and North Africa.

“Otherwise, the U.N. Security Council prestige is hurt and trust between U.N. Security Council members is being undermined. Thus, the U.N. Security Council is unable to take decisions in the future,” Lavrov said.

“The organisations or the countries, which seek to carry out the U.N. Security Council mandate, should give an account on their activity in the U.N. Security Council. This is related to the North Atlantic Alliance, which volunteered to ensure the no-fly zone over Libya. Instead, it started mass air strikes,” the Russian minister said.

“It is very sad that information on victims among civilians has not investigated yet.” Lavrov called on the U.N. Secretary General “to clarify this issue in compliance with the Declaration on Cooperation that was concluded by the U.N. and NATO Secretariats in 2008”.
