MOSCOW, March 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Former Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said on Sunday he plans to meet billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov to discuss cooperation prospects.
Prokhorov came third in the Russian presidential race and said he would not accept a government post but would focus on the creation of a political party.
Kudrin switched to opposition after he was fired for publicly refusing to work in the government which outgoing President Dmitry Medvedev is likely to head after swapping jobs with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
“We have agreed with Prokhorov to meet in the near future and discuss prospects,” Kudrin said in Twitter adding he would not work in the government and will create a fund to support regional initiatives.
Kudrin was evasive in saying whether he would join Prokhorov’s party. “I believe concrete deeds are more important today then party affiliation. But parties shall be anyway created,” he said.
Earlier Kudrin said he was ready to promote the creation of a new liberal party in Russia.
