MOSCOW, March 11 (Itar-Tass) —— Traffic is fully restored on the railroad accident scene in the Jewish autonomous district, the Far Eastern regional center of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass.
“Repairs ended at midnight (local time) and railroad traffic resumed on the second track where trains collided at the Amur station,” it said.
The collision of two freight trains suspended the traffic of four passenger trains. “Passengers travelling between Moscow and Vladivostok were taken by bus to the In and Birobidzhan stations and continued their voyage,” the center said.
The accident occurred at 1:46 a.m. Moscow time on Sunday. Twenty-six train cars, mostly loaded with coal came off the rail. The locomotive driver and his assistant were injured lightly.
