Russian woman tourist dies in fire in Bangkok hotel

BANGKOK, March 9 (Itar-Tass) — A Russian woman tourist died in a fire at the Grand Park Avenue Hotel in downtown Bangkok, reported Colonel of local police Rattasak Raksalam.

He did not call the woman’s name, but noted that she had died on Friday at 04.00 local time at the Kluaynamthai Hospital in Bangkok.

According to Raksalam, all in all, 21 people were injured. Most of them are foreign tourists, among whom, according to the Russian embassy, five are Russians.

Press secretary of the Russian embassy in Thailand Vitaly Anopov told Itar-Tass that the Russian consulate is in constant contact with Thai authorities, follows developments and renders assistance to the victims.

According to the latest data, the fire flared up on the fourth floor of the 15-story building on Thursday at 21.50 local time. Acrid smoke filled in suits and corridors on several floors.
