Moscow to turn down resolution on Syria if it implies use of force

Russia will not agree with a resolution of the UN Security Council of Syria if the latter contains any pretexts for the use of force against that country

MOSCOW, March 8 (Itar-Tass) – Russia will not agree with a resolution of the UN Security Council of Syria if the latter contains any pretexts for the use of force against that country, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Thursday.

“We won’t agree to a resolution that will contain whatever pretexts for forcible actions against that country,” he twitted in his microblog. “Any duplicities are totally inadmissible.”

“We’re holding very complicated consultations on the Syrian resolution in New York and their objective remains unchanged, namely, to produce a text that would contain equitable demands to all the parties to that conflict,” Gatilov said.
