Medvedev congratulates Putin on election to presidency

"Our country’s citizens trust the policy course that has been pursued by our state in recent years," he said

KRASNAYA POLYANA (Krasnodar Territory), March 8 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s incumbent President Dmitry Medvedev has congratulated Vladimir Putin on his election to the country’s presidency.

“First of all I would like to congratulate You on Your election as President of the Russian Federation. Yesterday, the Central Election Commission summed up the results. The result is absolutely convincing, and it shows that our country’s citizens trust the policy course that has been pursued by our state in recent years,” the incumbent RF president said. “In recent years we have really been creating together the basis of a new economy, modernising the economy, changing the technological mode. Naturally, much attention was paid to the development of the social sphere, although it is obvious that there are many different aspects there.”

“Our state has faced and is facing a very important task – ensuring security, defence capability and, certainly, maintaining an adequate level of relations with other countries on our planet. I’m sure,” Medvedev stressed, “that all of these spheres will be needed in Your future work and I would like to sincerely wish you maximum success in this. Once again, congratulations on Your election.”
