MOSCOW, March 7 (Itar-Tass) — A passenger plane, which performed a regular flight from Moscow to Sochi has been hit by lightning when the flight was approaching Sochi airport, a source from Basel Aero airline, which services the air harbor of the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympics, told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

A return flight to Moscow due to take off at 1.40 pm Moscow time was delayed because it was necessary to examine the plane after the incident, the source said.

After the preliminary examination of the aircraft, which belongs to the A-131 series experts have actually found signs, which the stroke of lightning left on the plane’s body.

Aeroflot airline company, which owns the plane is to decide whether the plane will continue flights, Basel Aero said, adding that Sochi airport had provided passengers booked for the return flight with all the necessities.
