MOSCOW, March 7 (Itar-Tass) — Spain is extraditing to Russia the last leader of the Orekhovo gang, Dmitry Belkin, accused of very serious crimes, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General's Office /PGO/ Marina Gridneva told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
"Today, Spanish law-enforcement bodies are extraditing to Russia Dmitry Belkin, Russian citizen, at the PGO's request," Gridnev said.
Belkin is accused of murders, including murders under several articles of the earlier Criminal Code, as well as of setting up a criminal group and attempted murder of investigator.
"The investigators ascertained that in the early 1990s, Belkin, together with Butorin whom Spain extradited to Russia earlier, and other persons set up an armed group /gang/ with the view of attacking citizens and organizations," the PGO spokeswoman said.
Interpol officers will convoy Belkin from Madrid to Moscow later on Wednesday, she added.
