MOSCOW, March 6 (Itar-Tass) — Police in Dagestan destroyed a leader of the Kizilyurt gang Alibek Omarov, a spokesperson of the National Antiterrorist Committee /NAC/ told Itar-Tass.
A group of gunmen was detected in a private house in the village of Nechayevka, Kizilyurt district by units of the Federal Security Forces and the Interior Ministry at around 18:00, Moscow time, on Monday.
They were blocked and residents of the neighbouring houses were evacuated.
"After the gunmen refused to surrender, three of them were killed in a shootout," the NAC said.
"The special operation resumed from 07:00, Moscow time on Tuesday. The special task force police entered the house, inspected the rooms and found the bodies of the militants. They have been identified.
Among the destroyed militants was Alibek Omarov, b.1985, a native of the village of Sultanyangiyurt, Kizilyurt district. According to the NAC's information, he was a leader of the so-called Kizilyurt gang. He "went away into the forest" /i.e. became illegal/ in October 2010. He has been on the federal want list for crimes of terror.
Police said he was involved in the March 11, 2011 shelling of the Kizilyurt police department, and the planting of six homemade bombs on the way of a military convoy on January 11, 2012. At that time, a police demolition expert died during the operation to defuse the bombs, and another eight servicemen were injured.
The second militant was identified as Isa Isayev, b.1990, a native of the village of Aknada, Tsumada district. He abetted militants, and became an active participant in the armed group and a dynamiter from the summer of 2011.
The third gunman is Makasharip Omarov b.1986, the house owner, who was an active abettor of militants. He supplied food, clothes and information to militants.
After the search of the house two Kalashnikov rifles, a grenade, ammunition, fixtures for producing explosive powder and a homemade bomb whose yield was some 20 kilograms of TNT were found.
"At present, other operation/search measures are being taken in the area of the special operation. The inspection of the house is continuing," the NAC said.
