ST. PETERSBURG, March 6 (Itar-Tass) — St. Petersburg police have arrested several men who threw Molotov cocktails at police cars in Saint Isaac’s Square, where an opposition action against the results of Sunday’s RF presidential election was held, the Interior Ministry’s main department for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region told Itar-Tass.

Several people were detained and police confiscated from them another bottle with flammable liquid.

Representatives of the so-called non-system opposition stated that they intend hold in St. Petersburg on March 5 mass protests against the election results, no matter which. In particular, one of the leaders of Moscow’s protest actions Alexei Navalny, who on February 25 participated in the march “for fair elections” in St. Petersburg, called on the city residents to go to Saint Isaac's Square.

However, representatives of the parliamentary opposition said they did not intend to participate in the protest action. They recognised the elections in St. Petersburg as legitimate.
