MOSCOW, March 5 (Itar-Tass) — The presidential election in Russia is valid, as the announced preliminary results may change, but insignificantly, the head of the Russian Central Election Commission, Vladimir Churov, said at a news conference on the election results on Monday.
“The election was held, and we only have to sum up the official results,” he said. “The name of the winner is already known,” Churov stated. He specified that changes in the results if any will be under one percent.
“The election of March 4 is already becoming history,” he summed up. According to the preliminary results after more than 99 percent of the ballots have been processed, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin proved to be the winner with 63.75 percent of the vote.
