MOSCOW, March 5 (Itar-Tass) — Businessman and self-nominated candidate for Russian president Mikhail Prokhorov may form a new party by the end of March.

“We will call an organizing committee in late March, and all the details will be available,” Prokhorov told journalists at his election headquarters after the voting.

According to Prokhorov, many people are voicing support of the idea of creating a new political force. As for its registration, he said, “we are likely to do it in line with the new system, and it will take a little bit more time.” Earlier, Prokhorov said he would register his party under the current rules, despite the fact that the State Duma is considering a bill simplifying registration rules for parties.

Prokhorov did not rule out that he would be the leader of the would-be party. Anyway, in his words, his standing in the presidential voting gives him such a right.

According to his forecasts, his final result after all the protocols are counted “is to be between ten and 11 percent” (according to data from the Central Election Commission after the counting of about 46 percent of votes, Prokhorov is scoring slightly more than seven percent). “Such a result gives the right to lead the party,” Prokhorov said. “It is a self-appraisal.”
