Putin wins election in first round – exit polls

The Public Opinion Foundation said he gained 59.3% of votes

MOSCOW, March 4 (Itar-Tass) — Prime Minister Vladimir Putin won the presidential election in the first round, according to exit polls done by the Public Opinion Foundation and the Russian Public Opinion Study Center.

The Public Opinion Foundation said he gained 59.3% of votes, and the Russian Public Opinion Study Center said the rating was 58.3%.

Both sociological services showed high precision results in exit polls in 2008.
