MOSCOW, March 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian presidential election turnout stood at 56.3% as of 6:00 p.m., Central Elections Commission Deputy Chairman Leonid Ivlev said.
The presidential election is better governed than the State Duma election, Public Chamber member Georgy Fyodorov said on Sunday.
“All violations are eliminated very quickly due to the broad use of the Internet,” he said.
Another Public Chamber member Maxim Grigoryev said they were monitoring reports from regions. “We are currently verifying a report, which says that voters may cast their ballots not only with an absentee ballot certificate but also with only a passport at the bus terminal in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia. If the report is right, that would be a violation of the election law. We are drafting an appeal to the Interior Ministry for scrutinizing the situation,” he said.
The Public Chamber operates in a special regime on March 4-5: all information regarding the ballot in regions is posted online. It also opened a call center for staying in touch with public election observers.
