Foreigners among casualties of major train crash in Poland

“Citizens of other countries, including Ukraine, are among injured people,”

WARSAW, March 4 (Itar-Tass) —— Several foreigners are among the casualties when two trains collided in Chalupki in southern Poland, the head of the Polish Silesian Province, where the train crash occurred, said on Sunday.

“Citizens of other countries, including Ukraine, are among injured people,” he said without going into details.

“Some 59 people were brought in various conditions to the hospitals in the province. Their personal information is being gradually found,” he added.

According to the medics, the death toll of the train crash reached 13 people, but this figure was not confirmed officially.

The rescue operation continues. “The most important thing is to get to the most hard-to-reach places in destroyed coaches with the assistance of rescuers and sniffer dogs and help people, who can be entrapped there,” Polish Interior Minister Jacek Cichocki, who rushed to the tragedy site, said.
