MOSCOW, March 2 (Itar-Tass) —— Attempts to organize illegal actions on Red Square and the Moscow Kremlin are impermissible, the Federal Protection Service said in an official statement issued on Friday.
“The Federal Protection Service warns the organizers and participants in such an attempt that the Moscow Kremlin is not only the official residence of the Russian president but also a unique historical and cultural monument on the UNESCO world heritage list,” service spokesman Sergei Devyatov said. “Any attempts to hold unauthorized events on Red Square and the Moscow Kremlin will be stopped in accordance with the law.”
Online reports said on Friday that the opposition would form ‘a white circle’ around the Kremlin after the March 5 rally on Pushkin Square.
“The Moscow organization of the Solidarity movement made the initiative,” organization cochairman Sergei Davidis told Itar-Tass. “The traditional rally is an insufficient format.”
The ‘white circle’ organizers said they would not impede traffic but the action would be held on Red and Manezh Squares, Vasilyevsky Spusk, the Kremlin Embankment and Manezh Street from 9:00 p.m. through 11:00 p.m. “Some people will stay near the Kremlin until our demands are met in full. We respect these people and will give them full support,” the organizers said.
