MOSCOW, March 2 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has urged Russian voters to assume their share of responsibility for the country by participating in the elections of head of state on March 4 and voting for a president capable to effectively solve problems.
The current election campaign has been held in an atmosphere of high civil activity. It has shown that the Russian society has become more mature and clearly formulates its demands to authorities, the president said in his special televised address to voters.
"It means our citizens realize that our future depends on the elections and are ready to bear their share of responsibility for our country, and the results of the political reform proposed by me in the address to the Federal Assembly will allow our people to more actively participate in the governing of the state," he believes.
The Constitution gives wide powers to a Russian president. It is tense and maximum responsible work. The future president must be capable to do it effectively, to continue the course for the modern economy development, to do everything for well-being of citizens, ensure defence capability and security of the country and consolidate its authority in the world, the president stressed.
Medvedev noted that he was convinced himself on more than one occasion that citizen's confidence and support were very important for a president.
Each adult citizen has the right and the possibility to vote for the candidate he or she wants to see at the post of president, he said.
"Only you, voters, can decide who of the candidates is worthy of your vote. I believe your choice will be right," he said.
"On March 4, you together must determine the way our country will go the next years." "Our future depends on each of us. Go to the polls and vote," he urged.
