MOSCOW, February 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with the head of the Moscow Office of the EU Delegation to Russia and the ambassadors of 27 EU member states on Wednesday, February 29, to discuss the situation in Syria and unsolved problems in bilateral relations.
“The development of cooperation between Russia and the European Union in the second half of 2011 was assessed positively. The sides discussed ways to implement the decisions of the Russia-EU Summit in Brussels on December 14-15, 2011, and prospects for Russian-EU cooperation this year,” the Foreign Ministry said after the meeting.
Lavrov drew the ambassadors’ attention to “the unsolved problems in Russia-EU relations that inhibit the full tapping of their potential”, the ministry said.
“The most pressing international issues were touched upon, including the situation in Syria and North Africa as a whole,” the ministry said.
