North Korea introduces moratorium on nuclear armaments testing

North Korea agrees to introduce a moratorium on nuclear tests, long-range missile launches and the program of uranium enrichment exercised in its nuclear research center

PYONGYANG, February 29 (Itar-Tass) — Following a request from the U.S. the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea agreed to introduce a moratorium on nuclear tests, long-range missile launches and the program of uranium enrichment exercised at the nuclear research center in Yongbyon, the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

The statement was issued upon the results of the U.S.-North Korean consultations in Beijing.

Also, North Korea agreed to let inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit Yongbyon and exercise control over the moratorium on the uranium enrichment operations.
