KIEV, February 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukraine may ask the World Trade Organization to settle its conflict with Russia over the quality of the Ukrainian cheeses, Agrarian Policies and Food Minister Nikolai Prisyazhnyuk, said on Wednesday.

“Yes, we shall appeal to the WTO, if the situation persists. The sole problem is Russia is not a full-fledged member of the WTO yet. It will have this status as of July and all respective requirements will be applicable to it as of that moment,” Prisyazhnyuk said.

He voiced surprise over the cheese dispute with Russia. In the near future there will be a conference with the Ukrainian manufacturers of dairy products and a corresponding decision will be made.

At Wednesday’s meeting of the government Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov called for extending assistance to dairy manufacturers who were not allowed to sell their products in Russia.
