STRASBOURG, February 29 (Itar-Tass) — A 29-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assemby of the Council of Europe (PACE) arrives in Russia on Wednesday to monitor the forthcoming presidential elections.

Apart from the Russian capital, the parliamentarians are to watch the polling process in St Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Petropavlovsk, and the Republic of Adygeya, a PACE spokesman has told Itar-Tass.

The PACE official mission under the direction of Tiny Kox (Netherlands), leader of the United Left at the Assembly, will begin working on Thursday, March 1. When in Moscow, the parliamentarians will hold meetings with the presidential candidates, with Vladimir Churov, head of the Central Electoral Commission, as well as with diplomats and activists of research-and-production associations. The monitoring panel comprises representatives of the main political groups of the Assembly, the PACE spokesman pointed out.
