MOSCOW, February 28 (Itar-Tass) —— A person died in a fire, which broke out on board the Engineer Nazarov tanker in Makhachkala, the press service of the North Caucasus regional emergency situation centre told Itar-Tass by phone on Tuesday.
“A duty officer of the Makhachkala sea trading port received a call at 12:35 Moscow time that the fire broke out on the deck of the Engineer Nazarov tanker, which is anchored at the Makhachkala seaport,” the press service said. “According to preliminary reports, one person died in the fire,” the press service reported.
The Engineer Nazarov tanker registered in Astrakhan with a water displacement of 5,000 tonnes brought the fuel oil from Turkmenistan, unloaded and moored on February 13. The crew was made up of 14 sailors. “The tanker does not contain oil products now, according to the Makhachkala sea trading port,” the press service said.
The fire-fighting efforts continue.
