MOSCOW, February 28 (Itar-Tass) — The death toll from the building explosion in Astrakhan has risen to six, a source of the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's regional department told Itar-Tass by telephone.
Rescuers have found two more dead bodies under the debris. Thus, the death toll has risen to six. The fate of four people remains unknown yet, the source said.
According to the Russian Health Ministry, the gas explosion and the collapse in the apartment building in Astrakhan injured 15 people, including two children.
Five people are taken to the region's central hospital for children, the Alexandro-Mariinsk hospital and Hospital No. Three. Other seven people are under medical treatment, but not hospitalized.
A temporary accommodation station for residents from the damaged building is set up in School 49, where two first aid teams and two teams of psychologists are on duty. Psychological and medical help was provided there for 36 people.
Leading specialists from the Astrakhan State Medical Academy are sent to the hospitals to treat the patients.
The regional government head, Konstantin Markelov, said earlier on Tuesday that one of the patients might be taken to Moscow.
