Int’l conference on security measures at Universiade-2013 opens in Kazan

“The conference is aimed to broaden international cooperation in the area of ensuring security,” the spokesman said

KAZAN, February 28 (Itar-Tass) —— An international conference on security measures during the World Student Games in 2013 opens here on Tuesday.

The forum was organized by the cabinet of ministers of the republic of Tatarstan and co-sponsored by the Russian emergencies ministry, traffic police, the interior ministry and other government agencies. Representatives from security services and scientists from Germany and Belarus will take part, a spokesman for the Tatarstan administration of the Russian emergencies ministry told Itar-Tass.

“The conference is aimed to broaden international cooperation in the area of ensuring security,” the spokesman said.

On the first day, participants in the conference will discuss measures to ensure fire safety, civil defence of territories and population, psychological help to victims and training of voluntary fire fighting brigades. First deputy director of emergency psychological help department of the Russian emergencies ministry Maria Filippova will hold a master class session.

On February 29, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the Universiade-2013 organizational committee Igor Shuvalov will chair a plenary session at the Korston business centre. Tatrastan’s President Rustam Minnikhanov will take part.
