MOSCOW, February 28 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s emergencies ministry has sent to the earthquake-hit republic of Tyva a plane with equipment for a tent camp that will accommodate 125 people, a ministry spokesman told Itar-Tass early on Tuesday.
“An Ilyushin-76 plane took off from the Ramenskoye airfield outside Moscow for Kyzyl at 04:38 a.m. Moscow time,” the spokesman said.
On February 26, a magnitude 7 earthquake rocked Tyva’s Kaa-Khemsky district 91 kilometers east of the capital city of Kyzyl. The quake’s epicenter was located at a depth of ten kilometers. The quake measured up to ten points on the Richter scale in the epicenter. Earth tremors were felt in seven Russian regions, including Tyva, the republic of Khalassia, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Irkutsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo, and Novosibirsk region. The magnitude of these tremors ranged from one to 6.4 points.
An emergency regime was imposed in Tyva. As many as 1,700 people were accommodated at 31 points of temporary accommodation.
