Right to use Nepskoye potassium salt deposit to be tendered in Q2 2012

“The Irkutsk administration of the federal agency is preparing terms and procedures to hold a tender for the Nepskoye deposit,” the ministry said

IRKUTSK, February 28 (Itar-Tass) —— The right to use the Nepskoye potassium salt deposit, the biggest one in the entire Siberia and Far East, will be tendered in the second quarter of 2012, the ministry of natural resources and ecology of the Irkutsk region said, referring to the federal mineral resource management agency.

“The Irkutsk administration of the federal agency is preparing terms and procedures to hold a tender for the Nepskoye deposit,” the ministry said.

In March 2011, the Irkutsk authorities asked the federal agency to tender the right to use the Nepskoye deposit in the Katanga district. Tender procedures do not require a potential investor to make a one-off payment and thus boost the investment attractiveness of the project. There is neither transport, nor energy, nor social infrastructure around the deposit.
