MOSCOW, February 28 (Itar-Tass) —— The discussion on the Syrian problems at the United Nations Human Rights Council has a strong charge of confrontation and in no way promotes settlement, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov wrote in his Twitter post on Monday.

The situation in Syria was in the focus of a regular meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. The session of the Council, uniting 47 countries, will last till March 23. The high-level segment meetings traditionally held on the first days of the session are attended by more than 80 top-ranking officials from states chairing United Nations’ special agencies, regional organizations and associations. The Russian delegation is led by Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.
