8 Dagestan villages left without gas supply over blast at gas pipe

The restoration works are expected to complete before 14:00 Moscow time on Monday

MAKHACHKALA, February 27 (Itar-Tass) —— Eight villages in the Kizilyurt and Khasavyurt districts, where more than 26,500 people live, were left without gas supplies over an incident at the Mozdok-Kazimagomed gas pipeline in Dagestan.

“The gas pipeline was damaged as a result of the liquidation of an explosive device found near the Caucasus federal highway on Sunday afternoon. The explosive device was made of a plastic barrel for 65 litres that was staffed with explosives. The explosive device was planted on the roadside, which is leading to Kirovaul, next to the gas pipeline,” a source in the republican law enforcement agencies said.

The Dagestangazservice gas utility will begin the restoration of the damaged section of the gas pipeline starting from 08:00 Moscow time on Monday, a source in the Dagestani branch of the main Emergency Situation Ministry department told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

The restoration works are expected to complete before 14:00 Moscow time on Monday.
